Bonneville High School Counselors

 Bonneville High School counselors are committed to helping students learn. Through individual counseling, classroom presentations, and work with special groups, counselors help facilitate the development of appropriate social skills, encourage career exploration and emphasize academic excellence. Counselors are anxious to meet with teachers and parents as needed in order to maximize the student's potential for success. Counselors also provide information regarding high school course selection, post-secondary training options, financial aid and scholarships, and career choice.

Chanin Thompson is a National Board Certified Counselor. She was born and raised in Idaho Falls and graduated from Skyline High School. She received her Bachelor's of Arts degree from Idaho State University and taught English and History for several years. Mrs. Thompson also earned her Master's in Counseling and an Ed Specialist in Counseling at Idaho State. Jared Smith has over 18 years of experience working with the youth in Idaho Falls. Specializing in at-risk interventions he worked as a school counselor and the Safe and Drug Free Schools Coordinator in the Idaho Falls School District before joining the team at Bonneville High. Sara Colson is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a National Board Certified Counselor. She graduated from high school in Tennessee. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tennessee Martin. Mrs. Colson continued her education at Idaho State and received her Master’s of Counseling. She has worked with youth in Eastern Idaho for several years, in both school and private practice settings.  She will assist in Senior Awards Night, IDLA, and Hope Squad. Thomas Kramer

Thomas Kramer received a Doctoral degree from Brigham Young University in Counseling Psychology and completed School Counseling certification through the University of Puget Sound. Previously he completed his B.A. at Brigham Young University in Humanities/English.  He first gained experience working with youth as a counselor at a boys’ ranch in Victor, Idaho.  Since then he has worked with students in various roles (i.e., tutor, mentor, P.E. instructor, conducted research of social and emotional learning, counselor) across all grade levels and has also provided counseling and assessment services at college counseling centers and VA hospitals.
